Shinto is a japanese religion from the early 18th century incorporating the worship of ancestors, nature spirits, and a belief in sacred power [kami] in both animate and inanimate things.

Buddhism is the world's fourth-largest religion. Most Buddhists traditions share the goal of overcoming suffering and the cycle of death and rebirth, either by the attainment of Nirvana or through the path of Buddhahood.

The Four Noble Truths express the basic orientation of Buddhism:  We crave and cling to impermanent states and things, which is dukkha, "incapable of satisfying" and painful.
